ARTIFICIAL REEF CONCEPT

From the studies carried out and the references considered in the state of the art, developed two different concepts inspired by the elements of nature, of which, one of them was selected for the idealization of an artificial reef structure. Integrated features aim to provide a nesting surface for corals transplanted, protect them from possible external factors such as the fragmentation caused by trawling, provide refuge for other species, encourage biodiversity marine environment, and promote the creation of a non-invasive structure with the natural environment.

Given the projected formal complexity, it is intended to manufacture using technologies of additive manufacturing and calcium carbonate-based ceramic materials. The incorporation of new materials must be studied and analyzed according to the variables existing in the ocean to ensure the maximum possible longevity in the installation of the artificial reef.
